Living Author Presentation (LAP)

Realizing that most children as well as adults have rarely or never had the opportunity to hear an author speak about his/her work, the Living Author Presentation (LAP) was developed by Pacific Heritage Books  over fifteen years ago.

The program is designed to bring authors to meet and speak to school children, their parents, teachers, staff, administrators and community and corporate sponsors throughout California to:

  • Read their own words to audiences
  • Share the process of transforming an idea to a finished book
  • Infuse the enthusiasm and passion of the creative process
  • Inspire children and adults alike to read and write
  • Answer specific questions about how a book evolves
  • Expose young and old alike to the vocations of writing, illustrating, communications, graphic arts, printing, photography and publishing as well as other related professions

Thousands in audiences throughout the state have benefited from the story-telling, audience participation, music, displays and audio-visual presentations at schools, educational conventions and conferences.  These events can be arranged at your school year-round in the form of grade-appropriate assemblies in auditoriums or multi-purpose facilities, or classroom/library visits.

 A sampling of Teacher/Administrator/Parents comments:

“Students were captivated…good use of LCD to display book pages to large audience…children saw the illustrations in simple form and then the final art…enjoyable and age appropriate…wish the children had time to create a short story with author…children could relate to the “local interest” of Reggie story…all of author’s books should be in libraries…chance to talk to the author one-on-one while lining up to see her illustrations…author encouraged children to become writers and artists and discussed the stages of writing…sharing the experience and research for her books…WOW! When can you  come back again?”

Testimonials

I purchased your book on the same day that my daughter won three goldfish at the ping pong ball toss. One was gold and two were grey colored. My daughter exclaimed how ugly the two were. That night I read REGGIE to her and used the story to teach her that she could hurt someone with her words or calling them names, making them feel unwanted and unloved, just like Reggie. It was so perfect and I can't thank you enough. We are so excited that you are coming to speak to her pre-school.

-John M., San Pedro

I gave the book and the plush alligator to my granddaughter. She loved them and carried that alligator everywhere with her while the family travelled through four states! -

Debbie R., Palos Verdes Estates
